Can’t stop coughing.

I sound like a frog right about now. Nobody call me.

Raise Your Glass | Eli

biancad-:

The last school bell of the day echoed through the empty halls and almost immediately they became flooded with students, Bianca DeSousa included in these. She was more than ready to get out of the school with all of its hearts and cupids hanging around for decoration for a day that she despised. She was, in no way, one of those pathetic girls who always felt the need to have a guy in her life. She didn’t “need” one to survive; she did well enough with that on her own, or she had so far. She made her way down the concrete steps and pulled out her phone to type out a quick text to the kid that Fitz liked to call “emo boy.” “I’ll meet you at the bar I told you about in 20,” she typed the message quickly and sent it on its way to Eli’s phone before she stuffed her phone back into her purse. She got into her car, tacked some blankets up onto the windows and changed out of her school uniform so it wouldn’t be blatantly obvious that she was a minor. When she was finished she uncovered the windows and threw the blankets into the backseat and she checked her purse to make sure she had their fakes. She’d had the same fake for a while and she’d gotten Eli’s made the previous night. Luckily enough for her, she had a good friend who made them and he usually didn’t charge her if she only wanted one.

She pulled out of the school parking lot and headed downtown. She made a quick pit-stop to a little flower shop and bought the two roses he’d asked for. It felt silly to her but she wasn’t going to argue; it was worth it for a few free drinks, and to see him get wasted. Plus, he was a pretty fun guy to be around and she enjoyed “arguing” with him—he actually was able to keep up with her sense of humor and he didn’t get offended by her biting sarcasm. They’d also both just lost a very close friend, for Eli a best friend, and she could tell that he just needed to get out of his own mind for a little while. She didn’t necessarily think it’d be good for either one of them but at least they’d feel a little better, even if just for a short while. She made the short distance from the flower shop to the bar with a little bit of time to spare so she pulled down the mirror in front of her and made sure she looked up to par. Once she was sure of her appearance she stepped out of the car and stood against the door to wait for him. She held both the roses in her hand and she carefully twirled them between her fingers. She had the option to get them with or without thorns and something told her that Eli might actually like the thorny stems or smooth, and they seemed a little edgier which made her feel the slightest bit less weirded out by purchasing them. Her chocolaty eyes wandered over the delicate red petals as she waited for Eli’s arrival.

It would’ve been a day like any other at Degrassi, if it hadn’t been for the fact that the halls were decorated with gigantic pink and red hearts, a nauseating, not-so-gentle reminder to everybody that it was Valentine’s Day. However, to Eli, it really was like any other day. Most of his time was spent wishing that he could be anywhere else but at school. Every which way he turned, he saw couples trying to sneak in kisses before classes, or hugging each other. He knew that it was a happy day for some, but that didn’t stop him from rolling his eyes when the sight greeted him. Once the final bell had rung, signalling the end of the day, Eli was one of the first to pick up his books and rush over to his locker to gather his things. The last thing he wanted to do was get stuck in a frenzy of kissing couples, who’d take ages to trudge their way out of the halls. Once he’d weaved his way through the crowd, Eli pushed open the front doors and stepped outside. He sighed, and slung his backpack over his shoulder. The only thing he had planned for the evening was spending time with Bianca DeSousa and getting wasted. It might not have been the ideal way to spend Valentine’s Day, but at the very least, it was better than staying at home and moping about not having anything to do. As he was walking in the direction of his house, his cell phone beeped, indicating that he had a message. Fishing it out of his pocket, he scanned through Bianca’s text. ‘Sounds good, I’ll be there,’ he typed back.

He trudged his way back towards his house, in order to change out of his school uniform. If anything, the Degrassi uniform screamed that he was a minor, and he didn’t want the one plan that he had for the day to go to tatters. Having reached his house, he shut the door behind him and went upstairs to get changed into his black Dead Hand shirt and a pair of dark gray skinny jeans. He threw on a black jacket and made his way downstairs. He’d asked Bullfrog earlier if he could borrow his car on account of having to meet Bianca at the bar, which was quite a distance away from his house. He picked up the keys from the dining table and locked the door behind him. He knew that the time of his arrival back at home was irrelevant, considering neither CeCe nor Bullfrog were home yet. He got into his Dad’s car, and pulled out of his driveway, following the instructions that Bianca had given him. Eli had never actually been to that part of town, and a part of him was apprehensive about this whole meeting. He barely even knew Bianca DeSousa, but they’d managed to keep up a string of conversation the past few days, so perhaps it wouldn’t be that bad.

He parked his car in the only empty spot left, and walked in the direction of the bar. It didn’t exactly look like the flashy kind of place which was normally streaming with people. This, alone, made Eli feel a lot better. He didn’t want any of Bullfrog’s friends to catch him at a bar and report it to Bullfrog, especially when he’d told his parents that he and Bianca were just going out to get dinner. After giving the place a quick scan, Eli’s eyes fell on a mass of curly dark hair. He smirked to himself, and walked over to the girl. He covered her eyes with his hands from behind. ‘Guess who?’ he said, chuckling softly, before dropping his hands and going over to stand in front of her. His gaze fell on the two crimson roses that lay beside Bianca. ‘I see you stayed true to your word,’ he remarked. ‘That wasn’t so hard now, was it?’ He obliged in a teasing smile. He reached into the pocket of his jacket to fish out a small box of chocolates. ‘And before I forget, this is for you. Don’t get too excited, though. My mom insisted that I get you something for Valentine’s Day,’ said Eli, rolling his eyes. Despite none of this being his scene, he was just glad that it proved to be a distraction from everything else.

I guess…What else am I supposed to do?

If you really want to spend time with her, you shouldn’t let that get in your way. Break a few rules, Novak. Make your fellow badasses proud.

Nope. My Valentine isn’t even allowed to spend time with me.

And you’re going to let that little obstacle stop you from spending time with her?

I’m sorry, I’m just so out of it today…Meh.

What’s wrong? I thought you’d be excited for Valentine’s Day and stuff.
